Turkey Day Place Cards

Hello, Jennie here and hope you are all ready for Thanksgiving! I know I have some cleaning to do and will start on some baking today. I wanted to share a project I made with my daughter for our Thanksgiving table. My parents are coming to spend Thanksgiving with us and I needed 7 place cards and thought the turkey from Turkey Day would be just perfect.

I used the Nesties One die and cut out 7 large labels from Pumpkin Pie cardstock and stamped the sentiment using Memento Rich Cocoa. The turkey was stamped with Memento ink as well and I taught my daughter how to color them with Pencils and Gamsol.   She did quite well, in my opinion. :o) On the other side we stamped each person's name so they will know exactly where their "place" is at the table come Thanksgiving Dinner! We all have much to be thankful for and I pray you have a wonderful Thanksgiving spent with those you love and mean so much to you.
Blessings,

It's all in the details...

Hello!

I thought we could have some fun today. I'd like to share some ideas on how to make your Thanksgiving dinner party a little more unique. That is, if you're lucky enough to host Thanksgiving this year. You think I'm crazy to be saying you'd be lucky, right? Well, actually, the planning can be a lot of fun. I'll show you what I mean.

With the Turkey Day clear rubber stamp set you can really add some colourful flair to your holiday table. This set is definitely one of my favourites. I just love, love, love the little turkey included with the set. C'mon, he's adorable!

If you're like me you don't have a ton of time to think and plan out the details. That's why I love this little turkey. He's about 1.5"x 1.5" round so I grabbed my circle punch and punched that turkey out! Don't worry, no actual turkeys were harmed..

Here's a placecard I made with him using some decorative paper I had on hand. I stuck with fall colours.

Placecards are great because they leave a person feeling welcome and special. They're really easy to make too.

Another idea is to make some wine tags. You know, that way Uncle Bob won't get confused when he places his wine down and forgets which is his. Uncle Bob, you know, everyone has an Uncle Bob!

For the wine tags I used the gobble stamp from the same stamp set, punched it with my circle punch again and threaded some straw-like ribbon through it for a fall decor look.
Again - a very easy project!

If you have some extra time you could sponge the sides to give it a warmer look or write names on the back of the wine tags to make them more personal.

You could also use these punched out images on napkins rings. Don't own napking rings? That's okay! If you have some ribbon handy, simply tie the ribbon around the napkin, and add the stamped image to the ribbon with some glue dots. Remember that the rustic/messy look actually works well for fall.

Thanksgiving's coming soon! I'm so thankful for my good health and family. What are you thankful for?

Turkey with a.....

For your viewing pleasure, I give you "Turkey with a Fro!"  I kid you not.... I *thought* using Flower Soft on the turkey feathers was a good idea....Uummm, well it is NOT!  This post is to show how when something turns out bad, just learn from it :o)  I like everything else about the card EXCEPT the Flower Soft on the turkey from Turkey Day.  I think some classic Thanksgiving colors are Bravo Burgundy and More Mustard and love how these colors match up with the Basic Grey Indian Summer designer paper.  I hope this makes you smile today :o)

We are going to have another Blog Hop towards the end of the month with some good ole' FUN blog candy so be sure and keep an eye out for it. I will have more details soon!
Have a wonderful day!
Blessings,

Post-It Note Holder

Hello! Welcome to the first tutorial here at Creative Clear Stamps!  I thought I would make is *easy~peasy* this first week and show how to quickly make a Post-It Note Holder. Are you addicted to sticky notes???  I am definitely a "sticky note person"...I have them everywhere...in my purse, in my Bible, in the kitchen, next to the computer, on my craft table...you get the idea. With Thanksgiving a little over 7 weeks away, I know we ALL have a lot to keep track of with grocery lists, things to pick up, a list of cleaning, who's coming, etc. So I wanted to make a cute little holder to keep in my purse when something strikes me as important to jot down.

I found some cute little orange trimmed post it notes in the Dollar Spot section at Target a month ago and knew it would work perfectly for this!   Since the notepad itself is a 3 1/2" square, I needed to make my holder just a smidgen larger. So I took a piece of dark brown sturdy cardstock and cut it 4" x 8 1/2".   Then I scored it twice at 4" and 4 1/2".   You can see below.....

Here is the inside (I just took some pop dots and centered the note pad in place):

I thought Turkey Day was perfect for mine and used some Basic Grey Indian Summer designer paper. I stamped the turkey with Memento Rich Cocoa ink and colored him with Copics. Then added the words "Turkey Day" from one of the sentiments and also used one of the cutest sayings in the whole set: "First one done, does dishes" I figured the one who is organizing the meal, buying the ingredients, cooking most of the meal can find some relief in sight if someone ELSE cleaning up! :o) I know my daughter was a HUGE help last year and I am sure she will be this year as well.

I hope you have enjoyed this quick little project and they would make great little gifts for teachers, co-workers, friends and family. I like to make a little assortment of hand made gifts and this would certainly be something nice and easy to include in a gift basket! Have a wonderful day!
Blessings,

CCS Holiday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the first ever Creative Clear Stamps Blog Hop! Laura has chosen some fabulous, creative and inspiring new designers for her Design Team and I just know you will come away with being impressed with what can be created with Creative Clear Stamps!!!

Just a little about CCS...Every item in the Creative Clear Stamps Store is priced $10.00 or less. All items are made only in the USA. Laura feels strongly believe in supporting American companies who employ American Workers and I couldn't agree more! I have been using Creative Clear Stamps for over 4 months and can really vouch for the quality of these clear acrylic stamps. I also have the acrylic blocks and they work perfectly for these stamps (if you are looking for some or don't have any).

The project I made to share today was made using the new holiday stamp set Turkey Day. And let me tell you, this is one cute turkey!!! I have colored him with various color mediums: Copics, pencils, and even used Autumn Flower Soft on this turkey (the latter turned out with more of an Afro, but maybe I will share that one another time....trust me, it looks funny! :oP)

This is one clueless bird.... I mean does he know what we are going to be doing to him soon??? YUMMO!

I did the inside of this card too and had to show the sentiment included in this set which I just love! Isn't this so true.... I was just talking with my husband about looking forward to Thanksgiving and all of the sides :o)

The rest of the Design Team has some fun projects to share... and you can win a CCS stamp set of your own if you sign up to be a Follower of this blog (if you aren't already) and also be sure to check in on these Design Team Members and leave a comment to increase your chances to win the blog candy:

A Husband's Two Cents

When I designed the Turkey Day set, my husband was busy getting ready for his Elk hunting trip out west. Usually he reviews them all with me, and says "That's nice", or "That's funny", or something similar. He left before I finished designing that set, so he never got to see the final design. Last night while I was working on making some cards for a craft fair I will be in this weekend, he poked his head in and looked around. First comment "Wow honey, this room is a mess!". (with glue dots stuck to my fingers I was thinking no kidding, I am crafting - watch out for flying brads) Second comment while peeking over my shoulder was "You should stamp that on a napkin." I turned around with my mouth wide open, shocked at his idea, then started nodding my head in agreement.

I was working on a piece with the turkey image and the sentiment "First One Done Does Dishes". How funny would that be to stamp the turkey image and then that sentiment on a napkin. Well then the ideas starting flying back and forth between us and we got a good laugh out of it. My husband ran upstairs, grabbed a napkin and we tried it. TOO FUNNY!

I can just picture my dad at Thanksgiving wearing his new camo, smelling like deer scent, and picking up the napkin with that sentiment stamped on it. My dad usually won't even put his own food on his plate! My dad doing dishes? Now that is funny!

Another idea we came up with was to stamp the turkey image on the back of a paper plate. Kind of like a baby or wedding shower where whom ever has the X on the plate wins the door prize. Except in this situation, whom ever has the turkey does the dishes. This could work at Christmas too, if you serve turkey.

Sometimes a husband's two cents is worth a lot more!
