Wow did Christmas whizz by! I feel like I have spent 2 month preparing and it flew by way too fast for my taste. I was really worried hubby was going to get held over at work (he had to work Christmas morning) but he was home in enough time for us to celebrate with his family. I was certainly spoiled with gift cards to both Micheal's and Jo-Anne's craft stores. Super exciting for me.....Hope you all had a wonderful weekend and an upcoming new year.

The details: This is my last challenge for you all so I am going to go a tad easy on you. Use your favorite embellishment. (ribbon, brads, eyelets, punches,, bling, etc)

I used friendship. My favorite embellishments are punches.....I love that with very little it adds sooooo much! I also used a paper piercer and pierced the bee's path. This was very hard to photograph cause we have very little natural light and the flash washes out the dark colors.

Creative Technique~Challenge~Tutorial

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week. The holidays are fast approaching. Are you ready? Have you wrapped everything and gotten stocking stuffers? If not I wanted to show you a easy stocking stuffer or gift.

The details: This weeks challenge is for you to use your favorite technique. This could be embossing or coloring medium or like what I did was a 3-D project technique.

I have a tutorial for you all to use to make your very own tea bag holder. I showed some samples I have done at the most recent blog hop.

What you will need:

· One 3 1/2" x 7 3/4" piece of cardstock—Basic Grey used here
· One 6 1/2" x 7" piece of patterned paper or printed vellum—My Minds Eye used here
· Scoring tool—Scor-pal used here
· Strong adhesive—rolled adhesive used here
· Thin cord
· 25" piece of ribbon
· 1/16" hole punch
· 1 1/4" circle punch
· Stamps—Friendship used here
· Additional cardstock and embellishments to decorate the front
*The largest sized was 3 ¼ x 3 ¼ and it goes in by 1/8 down to the stamped whisper white.

Step 1
Place 3 1/2" x 7 3/4" piece of cardstock in your Scoring tool Score at 3 1/2".

Score at 4 1/4".

Step 2
fold both of the score lines.

Step 3
Line the 6 1/2" side of the patterned paper up with the top of the scoring tool Score at 1/2".

Score at 3 1/2".

Step 4
fold your score lines. Apply Adhesive to the 1/2" section of the paper.

Remove tape liner, fold paper over and rub to set adhesive.

Step 5
Align the paper sleeve with the 1/2" score line. Score at 3 5/8".

Turn paper 180 degrees, line other side up with 1/2" score line. Score again at 3 5/8". The 3 5/8" is actually marked on the score pal to make things a bit easier.

Step 6
fold both score lines.

Step 7
Slide one size of the designer paper into the 1 1/4" circle punch. Center and punch.This will make it easier to take the tea bag out of the holder later.

Line up the other end of the paper with the punched side. Line up circle punch again and punch again.

Step 8
Add Adhesive over the back of the patterned paper spine.

Peel off tape liner, center patterned paper over cardstock and tape down.

Step 9
Tie ribbon around the cardstock base.

You can decorate the front of the holder.I used dimensional's so the ribbon is able to be repositioned.

Step 10
Open the tea bag holder and punch two small holes in the spine through both the patterned paper and cardstock. You can use a 1/16" hole punch or your paper piercing tools for that. I like to use a guide for better/even hole placement.

Step 11
Thread some thin cord through the holes so both ends of the cord are on the outside of the holder.

Tie the cord in a knot or bow on the outside of the spine.

Step 12
Add tea bags into your patterned paper sleeves.

Fold tea bag holder and and tie ribbon again. Your tea bag holder is done.Variation:Instead of filling the sleeves with tea bags, try chocolate squares instead.

I used my new sewing machine to sew the front of the tea bag holder.....The lines are a tad bit wiggly but this is my first sewing machine so I have a bit of a learning curve....So far I LOVE it though.

Here is a photo of the inside. Another variation you could try are the ghiradelli or dove square chocolates.....those will fit in here just fine. it looks harder than it is. I think total for this whole tutorial (without the photos and typing it up) took about 30 minutes. Those are fast and wonderful little gifts.

Creative Holiday~Challenge

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week. This week was super busy. I am coming up on the last week of the semester so I already had a final last week and a presentation and a huge paper. Finals week should actually be pretty good to me :) I only have 1 big test. I hope you all will find some fun inspiration this week!



OK so for the details:

Creative Holiday ~Color Challenge. Use navy blue, silver and BLING

I used a few different stamp sets for my project: For the alphabet on the front I used Pattern Alphabets and Numbers for the Tree and the cluster of snowflakes I used Let it Snow for the inside of the invite I used Surprise Party. I love this color combo and it was super fun to create.I used a small square block and aranged my cluster of snowflakes using all 4 sizes. This was super easy and way better then trying to stamp each one individually.

Holiday Tip: I used my score pal mat with the measurements and placed the letters and the words face down so I could make sure they were even and lined up. It was great having the lines there for guides. then once I had them in place I pressed down on them with my clear block and they were lined up perfectly.

This challenge is about using two different designer papers on your project. I wanted to go a little easier on you guys if your week was as crazy as mine.

I used two different stamp sets for my project: Let it Snow and Holiday Sentiments. This is my take on the easel card that have been out there. I used a 12x12 size of Kraft paper. This is the front of the card when it is all folded together. I used 2 different glittery design papers that I have been hoarding from my minds eye.

This is the card completely open. I used one of the design papers to paper piece the tree. I thought it looked like ornaments.

This is my version of the easel fold. here it just sits open. This was really easy to make.

This challenge is about being thankful. With Thanksgiving here in the US this Thursday I thought it would be appropriate to be thankful for our crafting stuff. So the challenge is: What tool or embellishment are you MOST thankful for and that will be the predominant focus of your card. (Paper cutter, any type of adhesive, and any type of paper do not count) If you elect to be thankful to ribbon you may only use ribbon (no brads, baubles, glitter, etc.) but you may use any and all tools you would like. If you elect to be thankful to your cuttlebug you may ONLY use your cuttle bug (No big bite, no punches, no other accessories that can be used with any other tools) but you may use all the embellishments you would like. Make sure to put down what tool/embellishment you are using and why you are most thankful for it! Whew hope that wasn't too confusing :)

I used An Extra Little Blessing for my project. I thought it would be appropriate for the holiday this week. I used the pillow box die to make a place card for the place setting for Thanksgiving. I have this pretty fall colored ribbon wrapped around the pillow box. I am most thankful for my cuttlebug cause it allows me to do and try so many things and it is so easy to use. It is also the "first" major tool purchase I made for myself when I first started stamping so I have a very big soft spot for my lil bug.

Here are the little slips of paper I made for everyone to write down the things they are most grateful for. I thought as a family this would be nice to have everyone write them down and put them in the pillow box. We will pass the box around and randomly draw one to read and share as a family.

I think this snowman is my favorite Christmas image EVER.....yes I said EVER :) I have used him on sooooo many thing so far and I just keep reaching for this set! It is from the Let it Snow Set. The sentiment is from Holiday Sentiments. I was trying to make an elegant Christmas card and it was really hard to get a good photograph.

All Wrapped Up!

This week's challenge is to use Ruby Red, Kraft and Creamy Caramel in a card.  For the cute little reindeer all tangled up in sparkly lights, I used a stamp from the Jingle Jangle set from CCS.  The sentiment is also from that set.  I highlighted the string of tangled lights with glitter pens and colored the reindeer with watercolor pencils and a blender pen.  Behind the sentiment is a scallop square with two bronze brads.  There's also a scallop circle that I wound brown floss around for extra texture.

I used two different sets for this card. For the LOVE on the background I used Pattern Alphabet and Numbers. I have been seeing so many other ladies on the DT use the stamps to create backgrounds and I have never done this so since this is supposed to be a challenge I challenged myself with trying this. It was so much fun to try! I used The Fairytale for the main focus on the card. Hope you can find some fun inspiration with this!

Ho Ho Ho!

For this week's CCS challenge, I used a clear tag with the sentiment "Ho Ho Ho" from the Jingle Jangle stamp set.  I also used the Santa from the same set.  I made the background by stamping the Santa multiple times in black ink, then layered a colored version of the same Santa on a strip of red cardstock.  This Santa is so cute...he almost reminds me of one of those little garden gnomes.  Hmmm, I just may have to try making a card with a garden gnome to see how it turns out.  Anyway, I wanted a simple card with not too much bling to give to a male coworker for the holidays, and this might just do it!

Creative Clear~Challenge~Tutorial

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week. I want to say thank you to all who played in our last challenge. We had a few more players! Yea that makes me sooooo happy! Hopefully you all will find inspiration this week. It was so much fun to see every one's creations. OK so for the details:

This challenge is ALL about Something clear.
This could be acetate, clear buttons, clear baubles......maybe even clear embossing powder. Just keep it clear! Let your creativity flow! For my sample I am also going to show a tutorial for a quick and easy shaker card.

• Gather your materials. For this project I used:
  Sage Shadow Card Base
  5 1/8 x 3 7/8 Bashful Blue Base
  5 x 3 3/4 Design Paper
  Glitter (I used Martha Stewart glitter flakes)
  3M Mounting tape on a roll
  Acetate or other clear sheet.

Let it Snow Stamp Set was used

• Use adhesive to put your design paper to your 2nd base.
  

• Use 1 3/8 Punch to cut through your main base.
  
• Adhere acetate sheet to back so the clear sheet will now create a window.
  
• Stamp your image and color if needed.
  
• Put 3M tape all around image.
  
• Pour glitter into the middle of all the mounting tape (on top of your image)
  
• Lay the base with the clear window sheet over your image and push down so there will be no cracks for the glitter to escape.
  
• Place mounting tape or pop up dots around the rest of the base and adhere to your card base.
  
• Ta Da You're done! Now decorate as you please
  
  Tip: If you are planning on stamping your sentiment directly onto the base with the window….Stamp that before you place mounting tape on it. Also, if your like me and horrible at having neat mounting tape application, use a paper glue like zip dry and fill the cracks. It really works and it dries super fast.

CCS3 Challenge - Creative Elegance

This is my piece for the CCS3 Challenge - Creative Elegance. I used Creative Clear Stamps "Hostess with the Mostess" stamp, and the snowflakes from Creative Clear Stamps New Release "Let it Snow". I thought this would be perfect to give my friend who will be hosting a Christmas Open House this year. The silver doesn't come out as nice in this photo as in real life. I need a place to take photos with better light. I used a Fiskars corner punch, Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels 4, black and silver ink, a couple of silver brads, and some black ribbon on white card stock.

I finally broke down and purchased a scor-pal. I LOVE IT! This is my first project using the scor-pal, and is also my first shutter card. WOW shutter cards are a ton of work, who knew? I have always wanted to make one, and for the amount of time it took - I won't be making any more for awhile -whewww.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful week. I want to say thank you to all who played in our last challenge. It was so much fun to see everyone's creations. Well today not only are you getting a challenge but a tutorial as well!

OK so for the details:

This challenge is ALL about Scallops.

This could be in the form of a border punch, die cuts, edges, stamped images, anything with a scallop. I used scallops on mine but I also used the faux silk technique. I used Girl's Weekend. This was one set I HAD to have. I still have girls night at my house and we do girls weekends. I could see so many things to use this set for.

The above picture is everything I used for my project. A scoring tool, tissue paper, the already pre-cut cardstock and of course mod podge.

I scored my cardstock. This card is a 5x5 card. One of my favorite size cards to make!!!!


Ink and stamp your images onto tissue paper, be sure to have something underneath (I prefer to stamp on some blank printer paper). The ink will bleed through the tissue paper. (If you use an outline image stamp in black and then color the image.)


Crumple the tissue up a few times, careful not to tear it. You can smooth it now or smooth it onto your image. You do not want to smooth to much as the “wrinkles” are what makes it look like silk.

Using a small sponge brush, apply mod podge over the entire surface of the neutral card stock. You may also use a glue stick but you will want to make sure the glue dries clear.


Carefully place your tissue over the top of your neutral cardstock and smooth down. You will want to expect a few bumps and wrinkles. That is OK! It makes it look like silk.

Allow to dry for a few minutes and then use scissors to trim off the excess tissue, or you can cut you new “silk” cardstock to size and finish your card.
My scallops was the punch! I was thinking about making the edge scalloped but though that would be overkill. Now that you've seen mine you know it could be as many scallops as you want or just a hint of scallops.
